November is a month for Thanksgiving, and in Lancaster, the month of the Extraordinary Give. Rodgers & Associates has been involved with the ExtraGive from the beginning, and as a presenting sponsor for nine of the ten years it has been held. There is a lot of attention given to the amount of money raised during this one-day event and its impact on the non-profit community.

The results have indeed been a reason for celebration. However, I want to draw your attention to the impact it has on the donor. We embraced the structure of the event because the low minimum donation allowed many people to become donors. Each donation is combined with others and then stretched by the sponsor pool so every donor can be confident their gift makes a difference. When someone donates their money, they are taking an ownership stake in the community. Each donation says I care about this organization, the community, and my neighbors.

On November 19, I encourage you to participate in the Extraordinary Give as a donor and by helping to spread the word. Let’s build a better community by encouraging others to take an ownership stance through the organizations they care about.
