Hospice Mount Joy Campus Named

Hospice & Community Care officially names 4075 Old Harrisburg Pike The E.E. Manny Murry Center.

Lancaster, PA (May, 2018) – Hospice & Community Care’s campus located at 4075 Old Harrisburg Pike, Mount Joy which includes the Bob Fryer & Family Inpatient Center and the Pathways Center for Grief & Loss was named The E.E. Manny Murry Center with an official dedication on June 14. The naming comes after a gift from The E.E. Murry Family Foundation. The Bob Fryer & Family Inpatient Center and the Pathways Center for Grief & Loss will continue to hold their names, but the overall campus will be referred to as The E.E. Manny Murry Center.

“Hospice & Community Care, at the time Hospice of Lancaster County, purchased the land at 4075 Old Harrisburg Pike from Murry Construction and built the Pathways Center and the Inpatient Center,” Hospice & Community Care President & CEO Steve Knaub said. “Ten years later this campus has touched thousands of families and provided care to countless individuals. It is so fitting to name this space after the man who made it happen, and to see everything come full circle.” Mr. Murry was a Lancaster County native, local and national construction leader and well-known philanthropist. He established The E.E. Murry Family Foundation in 1974, and was a generous supporter of Hospice & Community Care.  Manny saw the care Hospice provided to the community and wrote, ‘in appreciation of your comforting care to so many friends’ on the donation checks. Wes Murry, Manny’s grandson leads the Foundation and described his grandfather and the art of giving. “He always told us that you don’t miss the money you give away.”

“Hospice & Community Care always meant so much to Manny,” Diane said. “He appreciated what they did for the community and his friends. Seeing his name on the sig just makes me so happy. This is what he would want.”

Friends and family attended the dedication where Hospice & Community Care leadership gave remarks prior to the sign unveiling. The event featured spanikopita, pigs in a blanket, shrimp cocktail, a wine bar and Labor Day Auction milkshakes.  Manny loved the milkshakes at the Auction and many of the food choices on the menu.

“This event was about Manny and his legacy and we made it as personal as possible,” Bonnie Jess Lopane, Vice President Development & Community Relations explains. “We are so grateful to Diane and the E.E. Murry Family Foundation for this transformational gift. The dedication is only a small showcase of our appreciation, and that of all our patients and families who are impacted by their generosity.”
